This past week my best friend from Granada, Javi, came to visit. His band Aurora was playing a concert in a beautiful church-turned-music hall in the center of Bilbao, and it was absolutely great to get to see them all again. I played the part of major groupie, accompanying them to their sound check and lurking while they were interviewed for a blog. Seeing Javi and his bandmates was a definite highlight of my time here so far, and it was fun to show off my new city to a few old friends. They played a great show, and afterwards was just like the good ol’ days in Granada–beer, tapas (/pintxos), and good conversation (though at times indiscernible with their strong Andalusian accents).
